CAREGIVER’S FORUM MEETINGS AND GOOD PARENTING SESSIONS

JDPC staff facilitating gender norm session and good parenting with caregivers
To foster gender equality, foster good parenting skill and raise the level of awareness of caregivers on gender related issues that affect families, JDPC Nsukka formed caregivers’ forums in all the major communities in Nsukka and Uzo-uwani and used the opportunity of the forum to educate parents on some sensitive issues that are usually neglected but which matters in family parenting.

During the sessions, women were encouraged to engage in sex education with their adolescent girls so that they don’t go outside and get the wrong information from friends that will destroy them. Also, during the forum meetings, parents were encouraged to prioritize their both male and female children and avoid attaching less importance to their female children and their education. The forum is a full dose of family related program, and many families now testify to benefit of the program in their lives.
