ABOUT US

JDPC Nsukka is a direct answer to the mandate of the Second Vatican Council which states that the church should be concerned in the building of a Just and Peaceful World. The commission is also a response to His Holiness Pope Paul VI encyclical ‘Populorum Progressio’ who states that the ‘progressive development of people is an object of deep interest and concern to the church’. JDPC Nsukka was established in 1991 as a registered Faith-Based and Non-Governmental Organization concerned with the development of people through the promotion of justice and human rights with a mission to apply the values of the gospel to the problems of society and implement/realize social justice, human development, and sustainable peace. However, JDPC Nsukka as the social arm of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka carries out programs and interventions that are people-friendly, developed oriented and that are geared towards the promotion of human dignity, fight to alleviate poverty through empowerment, strive to be the voice of the voiceless and works to promote good governance. JDPC Nsukka works with many relevant key stakeholders and over 150 volunteers in many parishes and communities within Nsukka Diocese. The organization is mainly funded by individual philanthropists, and both local and international funded projects and donors.
